I met Paul after he responded to a request for bids to provide project management training for Bromsgrove Council.  Paul’s quote was not the cheapest or the most expensive but I was attracted to his offer because he took the time to explain where he felt that I had been a little ambitious in what could be achieved in a single day! Together we agreed a realistic set of objectives and a series of six courses were provided with positive feedback across the board.  In fact having sat in on the first course, I can verify personally the quality of Paul’s work!

Since then, Paul has also delivered a one day course on Leadership and Motivation which was equally well received by the delegates attending.  We are looking forward to a further course in the New Year when Paul will take some of our more senior staff through the Strength Deployment Inventory to enhance their interpersonal skills.

My lifelong ambition to become an infantry officer in the army took a blow when I was advised at a pre-selection board that my presentation skills were woefully inadequate.  However, after just a few hours working with Paul, he had given me the confidence I needed to apply the skills that he had taught me.  Not only did I pass the selection test but as you can see from the photograph, I have now graduated from the Royal Military College Sandhurst and will soon be joining my regiment.  I am certain that Paul’s help played a significant part in my success both in getting through the selection process and completing my training at Sandhurst.

A4E Business Success in Childcare

Paul was one of the trainers selected to deliver business skills training to the childcare sector, as part of a national contract with the Sure Start Unit of the DfES.  The programme, ‘Business Success for Childcare’, involved over 2,000 workshops to over 32,000 delegates from June 2003 to June 2005.  He very quickly mastered the diverse subject material and consistently delivered all of his workshops to a very high standard, receiving excellent feedback from the childcare team and delegates attending.  Significantly, Paul contributed much to the development of our programme with his feedback and ideas, willingly sharing ideas and experiences with the other trainers in the programme to their benefit.  Additionally, working with another trainer, he designed and delivered two workshops to train local authority support staff in coaching child minders in basic business skills.  Overall, Paul made a very valuable contribution with both his professionalism and extremely humorous personality to the programme and we look forward to working with him again when the opportunity arises.

Having used Paul to deliver project management courses very successfully in the past, I approached him to consider a new project to create a one day development package for the board of a local not for profit organisation who sought our assistance to improve their effectiveness as a board of directors.

Paul was able to use his own very relevant experience as a non-executive director of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development to aid in the design and delivery of an excellent one day programme that was extremely well received by the client.  By researching not only the subject but also the organisation, Paul was able to match the content not only to the needs but also to the culture of the organisation.
